Taunton Public Space Improvements
Taunton Deane Borough Council is looking at ways of making Taunton town centre more user friendly, creating attractive public space and making the area better for pedestrians and cyclists. We want to create new and improved public areas that are attractive, where people can walk, shop or simply sit and rest awhile, areas with fewer vehicles, less pollution and reduced noise.
We are proposing changes to East Street, Hammet Street and St James Street to improve public space and redirect traffic to more appropriate routes. This would enhance the look and feel of our town and could attract more visitors, establishing Taunton as a key destination for shopping, culture, recreation and eating out. This will further help attract investment and enable businesses to thrive.
A public consultation presenting our ideas can be seen at Taunton Library, Paul Street, Taunton TA1 3XZ, during usual opening hours, from Tuesday 21 February until Saturday 18 March 2017.
Information will also be found here from Monday 20 February 2017.
If you would like to discuss the suggestions, you can meet the project team at the library on:
- Thursday 23 February 2017, from 11am to 3pm;
